Edison Canal Apaza's story:

Edison was born in 1991, and is from the community of Pallata, in the district of Ollantaytambo (the Incan village en route to Machu Picchu). His father is a farmer, and his mother is a housewife. He has five siblings.

Edison is studying hard to take care of his family, since his parents do not support him, and his family suffers from domestic abuse and alcoholism. In high school, he tried to support his younger siblings, and walked two hours each way to school.

He hopes to be something in the future, to help others who need assistance. “I believe that Mosqoy will help me to be a good leader, and I would also like to live and share my life with the other Mosqoy students in Cuzco.”

When Edison completes his studies, he would like to return to his community to talk to the younger generation about the Mosqoy program, and encourage others to become professionals in their fields.
