The Condor Trust for Education is based in Quito, Ecuador, and provides scholarships to children for both secondary and post-secondary education. They work with hardworking, driven students from “low or no income” families from poorer regions of Quito, or towns in the surrounding mountains. Their model places heavy emphasis on recognizing students as whole people with unique opportunities, challenges, aspirations, and lives, and sees parent or guardian involvement where possible as key to the success of students they work with. The university students supported with Education Generation scholarships hope to be their country’s future leaders, with careers including engineers, business owners, nurses, and computer scientists. The scholarships created through Education Generation cover partial costs of annual tuition, and the Condor Trust works to supplement this scholarship with support from other means.
